Dr Harold Heah is an Otolaryngology (Ear Nose Throat) - Head & Neck Surgery Specialist, currently practising at Gleneagles Medical Centre, Singapore. He manages all ENT conditions and sub-specialises in treating head and neck tumours, including thyroid, salivary gland, oral cavity, and sinus tumours. Dr Heah is well-versed in various surgical approaches such as endoscopic surgery and transoral robotic surgery and is experienced in using the daVinci® robotic surgical system. He was also the first surgeon in Asia to utilise the Medrobotics Flex® Robotic surgical system.
Dr Heah graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and qualified as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, U.K. He completed his otolaryngology specialty training in Singapore and received the Health Manpower Development Plan scholarship to further sub-specialise in Head and Neck Surgery. He then went on to complete his clinical fellowship in Advanced Head & Neck Oncologic Surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he worked with world-renowned experts in the care and management of head and neck cancer patients.
Prior to starting his private practice, Dr Heah was with the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), where he served as Director of Clinical Services at the Singhealth Duke-NUS Head & Neck Centre. His contributions earned him the Singhealth House Officer, You Shine, Service with a Heart and the Singhealth Health Quality Service awards. He was also a visiting consultant to the National Cancer Centre Singapore, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
Aside from his clinical work, Dr Heah had been involved in medical education, serving as core faculty member of Singhealth’s otolaryngology residency programme. For his contributions to education, he was awarded the Singhealth Outstanding Faculty Award. He was also the Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School and Clinical Lecturer at the NUS’ Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
Dr Heah has published in multiple peer-reviewed scientific journals, co-written book chapters in medical textbooks, and spoken at numerous local, regional, and international medical conferences on the topic of head and neck surgery.
Dr Heah’s philosophy of practice is the provision of holistic patient care through healthcare collaborations. As such, he often works with other specialists to ensure the best outcome for his patients.
