Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) - Head & Neck Surgery Specialist.
Sub-specialty in head and neck surgery, including thyroid, salivary glands, neck masses, complex tumors and cancers of the ear, nose, throat regions.
Expertise in both conventional open head and neck surgery and minimally invasive approaches, as well as transoral laser surgery for oral and throat conditions.
Former site-chief for Head & Neck Surgery at SKH, with clinical practice at SKH, SGH and NCCS.
Assistant Professor to NUS YLLSOM and Duke-NUS, previous Undergraduate Education Director at SKH, with multiple awards in medical education.
Dr Tay Ze Yun is an Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT) Head & Neck Surgeon, currently practicing at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore. He manages all general ENT conditions with special interest in head and neck masses and cancers, as well as nose and sinus conditions, sleep apnea surgery.
Dr Tay graduated from the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2008. He subsequently joined the Singhealth Otolaryngology Residency Programme and completed his specialist training in 2016.
In pursue of his passion in Head and Neck Surgery, he completed the two-year Singhealth Duke- NUS Head and Neck Surgical Oncology Fellowship program (2016 - 2018), organized by the Singhealth Duke-NUS Head and Neck Disease Centre, a tertiary centre that provides multidisciplinary care of patients with complex head and neck conditions
He was subsequently awarded the MOH Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) award in 2018 to pursue a surgical fellowship in advanced head and neck surgical oncology at the world-renown Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. During this fellowship, Dr Tay spent majority of the time participating in surgeries for complex head and neck conditions, and also had the opportunity to hone his research in the field.
Following his overseas training, Dr Tay also completed the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies (IFHNOS) fellowship and graduated with Honors in 2020.
Prior to private practice, he served as Consultant ENT- Head and Neck surgeon with the respective ENT departments at both Sengkang General Hospital and Singapore General Hospital. He was also concurrently the service chief of Singhealth Duke-NUS Head & Neck Centre for SKH, leading a multidisciplinary team for the provision and development of the sub-specialty services at the site.
Apart from his clinical duties, he was actively involved in medical education, serving as Undergraduate Education Director and being appointed as Assistant Professor to both NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Duke-NUS. Of note, under his stewardship, the department was awarded the prestigious NUS Clinical Training Excellence Award on consecutive years from 2019 to 2023.
Dr Tay’s philosophy of practice derives from his belief that the doctor-patient relationship is based on trust and collaboration. He strives to ensure patient understand their conditions and are then able to make sound decisions together to achieve positive outcomes.
